Too good to miss...

While browsing the paper last Thursday night, I saw the mention of a huge sale, and I just couldn't pass up the opportunity. Pamela Anderson was having an estate sale in Malibu. Love her or hate her, it's well known that Pamela is a huge Shabby Chic enthusiast, and has called upon Rachel Ashwell more than once to custom decorate her Malibu home, which you can see here. So let's just say what taste Pamela lacks in men, she makes up for in home decor. Killer home decor.

The morning of the sale was best described as hurry up and wait. It began with my arrival at the Trancas parking lot at 6am, right off Pacific Coast Highway, in Malibu - the declared meeting spot, according to the website. From there, we were to be shuttled off to the actual location of the sale, which was not her home, but a building next to the home she had been leasing. Then came the wait. The 4 hour wait. What else to you do for 4 hours but wait, look at your watch, chat, and look at your watch some more. I gabbed with several of the ladies in line, made a few new friends and we even exchanged numbers.

Finally, 4 hours later, they lined us up and packed us into the shuttle like a tight can of sardines. My heart was pounding as we were caravaned through the unfamiliar canyon roads. Even our driver seemed lost at times. Then came the barracaded doors, two sets of them, as well as security people manning the doors. For a moment I thought we were entering Fort Knox. Suddenly a quick jerk, and the shuttle came to an abrupt stop. As I opened the shuttle door, I was greeted by an extremely handsome man, who had a very Ryan Seacrest-esque personality. He shook my hand and loudly exclaimed "Welcome to Pamela Anderson's Estate Sale!" The pandemonium had just begun.

I quickly hurried up the driveway and made my way into the building. As I shopped, I gathered things up into my arms until my arms could hold no more, so I found a large wicker basket to carry all of my goods around. There were no boxes in sight. It seemed many of the shoppers were more interested in Pamela's clothing, which were packed in a small room, and I had absolutely no interest in buying her used jeans and tee-shirts. There were lots of cameras, producers, boom men, and even a few nosy camera men that followed me around as I shopped. They even got a few interviews out of me, quite unwillingly. Did I really have to wear that raggy sweater that day? The rumor going around was that they were filming the sale for Pam's upcoming show, called Pamela. Although I never got to see her, I heard she made an appearance on Saturday. By the time I was done shopping, I bought so much stuff, I had to be assisted by two of the producers that helped me down the driveway, each with an arm load.

What was I going to do with it all? That was the question I was asked by several of the staff members that day. Well, I'm a dealer. Buying and selling is what I do, and its the cycle of my business. In a perfect world, I wish I could keep all of this stuff, it's drop dead incredible; all my favorite things I love to collect. But I'm only keeping a few things and selling all the rest here and here. I'd love for you to check it out. And maybe you too can own a piece of Pamela's Shabby Chic decor!

Here's what I bought from Pamela Anderson's Estate Sale:

Pair of alabaster cake pedestals, filled with paper roses napkin rings..

Antique "Rose Garden" Hand Painted Wooden Sign. This can be seen in her home here:

Her colletion of Antique Mercury Glass. Most of it has hand painted detail...

Pair of Circa 1930's Antique Flush Mount Beaded Chandelier Domes..

Her collection of Antique old Italian Floral Tole. Some of the pieces are matching sets, and some are individual pieces...

Close up of the Tole Rose Candleabra...

Tole Rose Chandelier (left), Tole Beaded Sconce (right)...

Thanks for letting me share my journey with you!

  8. To shabbyinminnesota: I overheard at the sale that Pamela is moving back to Canada; where she is originally from. That's why she's giving up the least on her Malibu home.

It's hard to take it all in, so much to see. I can't believe she is giving it all up, we look so hard to find the beautiful things she sold. 18. What a fabulous lot of goodies you scored Jennifer! Gotta give it to Pammy, she has impeccable taste. I loved the party for her boy in the most recent Rachel Ashwell book, the little snippets we got to see of her home showed the best furniture and gorgeous stuff! LOL I would have gone the opposite direction to the clothes, but would love to be the size to fit into them!

  19. Hi Jennifer,
Whoa!! I'm a day late and a dollar short. How can it be that I missed this post. I am just now reading it on May 15th. Working has really cramped my blogging time. How fabulous, I give you credit girl, I don't think I could have taken the stress. You certainly scored with all those beauties. Is the little beaded sconce still available. I think it had my name on it.

Thanks for your birthday wishes Jennifer. I am so happy to call you my friend.

    Hugs,
    LeAnn:)

  39. What an AWESOME opportunity to get to go to Pam Anderson's estate sale!!!!!! Thanks for posting the link to her video from Cribs, too. It was really cool to see her house, and I love how she had it decorated. Did she say why she was moving? Did you get to meet her? Did they have good prices, or were the things expensive since they belonged to someone famous? Glad you had fun and got such great stuff!!!

Nope, I would have never imagined she would have had a home I would love so much. If only her taste in men matched her taste in decor...oh well.
Was she moving? Or just downsizing the amount of *stuff*?
I had to watch the video and it was all just gorgeous. I could have moved right in...beautiful.

I loved reading your post..thank you for sharing it all with us!
