Life under the big top

No, I didn't just join the circus. Adam and I just bought a new house! It's tented and being fumigated in the photo above, and find it hilarious looking. I mean, who decides on these colors anyway? I'm pretty sure they're picking up this visual via satellite.

We refer to this house as "Cottage8" because we bid on 7 other homes before this one, which we were outbid by aggressive bidders, every single time. We've been house hunting since February and we finally found this house in June. A very long, arduous process to say the least.

I will show you more photos of our new house, including the interior, in my next post. When you see it I think you will agree...this has to be the ugliest house on the block. It has been vacant for months and so poorly kept. I think this house needed me. I am so up for the challenge. I've even had neighbors come up to me and thank us for moving in and saving this house.

We have exactly 2 weeks to get this house in safe, livable condition so we can move in. Picture watching a home improvement show in warp speed. That's Adam and I, working day and night on this little wrecker. We're demolishing the old kitchen and putting in a new one, replacing all the carpet, putting down new flooring, painting interior and exterior, and landscaping. We're doing this all on our own, and we have no real experience in home renovation. I've got paint stuck to my eye brows, and I haven't slept for three days. Welcome to our new home, and my new life under the big top.

oxox, Jennifer

68 of you had this to say:

  1. Hi Jennifer! Wow! That's a huge undertaking for just 2 weeks! And in the heat of summer? Congratulations on the new home, though! Once you move into the house it's then I'm sure you'll use your magic charms and make it your "home".

  47. Hi Jennifer,
Congratulations on your Big Top purchase!

Whatever you and Adam do, Jennifer, I know it will be beautiful. There's nothing like loving a house and taking care of it. That's great the neighbors have already welcomed you. It sounds like it's going to be a lot of work, but how fun being able to renovate this house that needs love so badly. Yippee for you sweetie! Chalk one up for the houses (this one will be well taken care of), makes my heart happy ;)

I owe you an apology for a broken link in your drive by house tour. I'm working on my new blog--had to shut my old one down after an attempted break in to my house. It's a long story--but I'll get your link to your soon.
