Dining Room Chair Swap
While there was certainly nothing wrong with our previous dining chairs, I felt a strong impulse to replace them with something that better suited my current look.
Here are my “old” dining room chairs:
And here are my new dining room chairs, purchased from my friend Cheryl earlier this week:
Six chairs, yes SIX! I never would have dreamt I could do 3 by 3 at our farm table, but these chairs are clearly meant to do just that. And lucky me, they were already painted black, giving off that country modern farmhouse look that I’m seriously craving right now..
I also love the rush seats. Soft to the touch and comfortable to sit on..
New chairs require new tablescapes, and the inspiration for this one came from my longing for the long n’ lazy days of summer.
I found this old European bread bowl at the Rose Bowl Flea Market, in Pasadena, CA. I fell in love with it’s long, skinny shape.
I simply filled it with with candles and seashells. Just wait until dusk, light the candles, and you have instant mood lighting…
On a personal note, I want to thank you. I’m overwhelmed by all your support from my last post. Your generous comments made me smile, big time.
…Stay tuned for my next post…
I’m going to show you what I’ve been up to my living room. And here’s a little clue: It has something to do with Sullivan and his twin brother, and I have a mad crush on them both. Confused? Guess you’ll just have to read my next post to find out : )

Very nice! They fit in the room perfectly and I like the color.

ReplyDeleteHugs~Kelly
They look completely FABULOUS!!
ReplyDeleteWell, I mush have good taste cause I have 6 identical chairs that I bought last summer. 40.00 at the flea market. I had to paint mine black though. They look lovely. My farmhouse table is all black though. Love the new look and can't wait to see what you are doing next!
ReplyDeleteIt's now the PERFECT farmhouse look - amazing what a change in chairs can do for a room! I LOVE them - it really shows off the dark accessories on your shelves. Yea!
ReplyDeleteSarah :)
Love the chairs...that touch of black really makes all your accessories pop! I definitely prefer their style to the white chairs for your 'new look'. Can't wait to see what's next.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Susie
I love it! The contrast really adds to the depth of the room!
ReplyDeleteI loved the old ones but these new ones really stand out and make a beautiful statement! Plus, I think six chairs looks even better! How fun! Gorgeous, gorgeous:)
ReplyDeleteLove the new look. Beautiful room.
ReplyDeleteLove the new chairs, Jennifer! Will you be keeping the white to change out the look every so often?
ReplyDeleteGreat look! Love the chairs and your table.
ReplyDeleteThe chairs look great, they were totaly meant for your table. I am going to the Rose Bowl Flea Market for the very first time in April. I would love any tips you might be able to pass along to me. I really appreciate your time and am constantly inspired by your blog. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteLove the new chairs, what a great addition to your dinning room! Cute table center too!!
ReplyDeleteI love how the chairs tie in the dark colors from your shelves...it looks great!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! Would you come to Indiana and redo my house?
ReplyDeleteI love the chairs, but I must admit, I loved the old ones as well. I am a sucker for the French provincial caned style of the old ones. The black chairs add a great contrast and I love your bread bowl as well. Great pictures as always.
ReplyDeleteOh YES! The black chairs are made for the room. I love the previous, but once seeing these with your room, it's perfect!
ReplyDeleteThe new chairs look great! I must confess, I love the old chairs as well (I have some very similar to those) - either look is lovely!
ReplyDeleteI just picked up a bread bowl at a thrift store a few weeks ago - I think I might have to try your idea. Thanks for the inspiration!
The black chairs really stand out against all the white. Fabulous!
ReplyDeleteI love that you have six of them around your farmhouse table, it's a great look!
ReplyDeleteToo perfect. Can't wait to see what you've got going.
ReplyDeleteThe new chairs look great! Of course, I liked the other chairs as well. And I especially love your seashell/candle table decor.
ReplyDeleteI randomly stumbled across your blog! I love your dining room and decorating style! Thank you for sharing it!

The new chairs look fabulous.
ReplyDeleteNothing quite like seashells and candles to make you think of Summer
Great chairs. Love the black. They do give your dining room more of a modern farmhouse look. Can't wait to see what else you've been up to lately!
ReplyDeleteThey look great Jennifer! And the old chairs? Are you selling them? Please let me know, but getting them would be difficult since I'm all the way down south!
ReplyDeleteNancy
Love the new chairs!!your so talented!looks great...hugs!!
ReplyDeleteJust beautiful!!!!
ReplyDeleteJennifer, they look great. And fitting 3 chairs each side is a real plus. I made the mistake with my dining room of getting chairs too wide. They look great, but when I need to do 3 down each side, a third chair will not fit.
ReplyDeleteLove the table runner, it looks great with the dark chairs.
Your new chairs look great and being black they certainly made a statement in the room. Had to smile though as they are practically like mine, that I am changing soon! I have to also say that I liked your other chairs too, but then again, I like so many decorating styles these days it's hard for me to decide which one I like best. Atleast I you know what you're doing as your house look fantastic!!!! take care, Maryann
ReplyDeleteyour dining room looks beautiful. I always love visiting, you have so many great ideas and your home is pure eye-candy! It looks so comfortable and homey with a ton of creativity thrown in. You can tell an artist lives there. Love it all, Theresa
ReplyDeleteI love ladderback chairs! They look so great! And I love the seashells and candles in that bread bowl. Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteLove it! Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteOooh,They are Good!!!!(my second post, Im getting brave!):0)
ReplyDeleteThey are perfect Jennifer~ I just can't get enough of your incredible home!!
ReplyDeleteI love them! I've also gone from loving white painted furniture to loving black painted furniture.
ReplyDeleteThey look great, Jennifer! I had no doubt they would!
ReplyDeleteI can't get your photos to pull up tonight...your's isn't the only blog I am having trouble with...I think it's BLOGGER, throwing a fit...
ReplyDeleteI'll come back to see your chairs tomorrow..:))
At first I wondered why you didn't just paint your chairs black.
ReplyDeleteBut, when you pointed out that you could fit six of the ladder backs around the table, I looked again and realized that your table looks longer and you have more of an updated farm look.
I like it!
~elaine~
I love those baguette boards too...we have sold several over the years and they fly out of the booth...so versatile!
ReplyDeleteI am SO looking for a long skinny tray like that! I swear I can't find one for less than $20 around here and I sure ain't paying that!
ReplyDeleteLove the country farmhouse look the chairs give the room. Gorgeous table setting with the burlap runner/wooden baguette board/white candles & seashells ♥
ReplyDeletesuch a great change! I especially like how you slipped in that burlap drape on your big wall shelf behind the table. very nice!!
ReplyDeleteThe chairs look lovely Jennifer. Love the baguette board too, so pretty with shells. I've hung one over my kitchen back door but may need to use another to use your candle/shell idea as it's so beautiful! Love the inspiration here (as always)!

ReplyDeleteWow now those chairs are gorgeous and they really ground the room. Isn't it funny that we can be so in love with white and never believe that we could possibly love black as much...but its happened and I do ....they are fantastic. Well done Jennifer!!!
