Industrial Overload

 Photography Disclaimer: Since I have a rather sad history of with traveling with a nice camera, all of these photos were taken with my iPhone, which I have no special camera app’s for. If any of you have any iPhone camera app recommendations to improve your photos, I’m all ears.

 

 

This past weekend, Adam and I went to check out the new Santa Monica Place Mall, and when we wandered into this store, we immediately surrendered to all the delicious industrial eye candy…

 

 

This is register area, but I couldn’t get past the reels and wheel parts being used for clever clothing display… 

 

This tall sliding ladder has such a great look, plus it’s perfectly practical when trying to find just the right size jeans…

 

 

Loving the movie studio style lighting and painted brick detail…

 

 

I have a confession: Whenever I walk into an incredibly visual, creative store, I always have to peek inside their try-on rooms. And this one didn’t let me down…

 

 

I would love to meet the creative minds that thought of turning this turn-of-the-century press into a merchandise display rack, complete with glass shelving and an old drawer…

 

 

I had to fight every urge not to buy this leather jacket. It’s so “Sgt. Pepper’s meets Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome”…

 

 

Loving the use of more industrial machinery for display purposes… 

 

 

Below is the store front. To the left is the exterior, and on the right is the interior. Can you guess what’s lining every square inch of the window?

 

 

Real antique sewing machines! They are stacked from floor to ceiling, one upon another, wrapping around the entire store front.

Remember Sunday and Mark from the recent photo shoot at my house? Well they are going to be scouting homes soon for an upcoming magazine shoot in Arkansas.

Cottage8 Photo Shoot - Fifi, Mark and Sunday..Oh My!

A really big dream of mine recently became a reality. We had Fifi and crew here, shooting our home for Fifi’s upcoming decorating book, coming out Spring 2011.

 

That’s Mark Lohman, photographer (right), Fifi O’Neill (center), and Sunday Hendrickson, photo stylist (left). I can’t tell you what an uplifting experience it was to be amongst such a talented group of people.  

 

 

For those of you that don’t already know her, Fifi O’Neill, author of the blog

  Chez Fifi, is the editor for Romantic Country magazine. Everything about this woman is simply divine…

 

 

Witnessing the entire photo shoot process, from concept to completion, and hearing the thoughts and ideas surrounding each shot was really interesting. It was definitely a “fly on the wall” experience..

 

 

During photo shoot day, I secretly referred to my kitchen as the “eye of the hurricane”. It quickly became the gathering spot for props. While I can’t show you the completed photos, I assure you, this room came out completely stunning…

 

 

This was the first thing that greeted me that morning, besides Miss Sunday. And yes, my house smelled amazing all day long!

As I have more information on the book, I promise to share. For right now, all I can tell you is it comes out early Spring 2011. So how many days away is that?  : )
